Sanctury of Fortuna Primagenia at Praeneste by Erik Olson
The Sanctuary of Fortuna Primigenia is the largest of all Roman temples and Erik Olson's model at five feet in width and approximately 10,000 LEGO bricks is the largest of the entries in the building contest. Erik Olson says "Fortuna Primigenia is the aspect of the goddess Fortuna which determines the fate of a man in childhood. So, as Lego undoubtedly made me what I am today, this project is a kind of piety."
Here are two views showing how Erik Olson tackled the problem of building the round central auditorium with the rectagular geometry of LEGO. One can see that the rightmost section of the model is not complete in these pictures but Erik did get one fuzzy picture of the whole model (which can be seen on his website) mailed in by the contest deadline.
